Kindergarten-5th Grade Program
Our K-5 program follows a standard elementary curriculum and schedule. Class size is kept small so that students receive more individualized attention.
The standard curriculum is enhanced by music, art, and computer classes, and extra-curricular music and sports activities are available for the 4th & 5th grade students. The school utilizes standardized testing twice a year, and the results are used to assess the academic standing of the students and to track their yearly improvement. Students receive breakfast and hot lunch daily, and the school is air-conditioned.
The Academy at St. Patrick
Our recently added middle school program is an innovative school model that stresses rigorous academic preparation that will result in high school success. We accomplish this goal in a small nurturing environment.
We are seeking admission into the Nativity/Miguel Network of Schools, a national network, which has proven success in educating students according to this model. The program includes an extended day, extended year, and Saturday enrichment program. Significant blocks of time will be devoted to the core subjects of math, science, language arts, and social studies.
Other elective and enrichment classes will be offer during the extended hours. Learning through technology will be enhanced through the students' access to laptop computers. Parental support and involvement is essential to the success of this program. We believe that by working together, by implementing the standards of the NativityMiguel Schools, and by generating community interest and support, we can make a real difference in the lives of our students and community.
Additional Programs
The school has an after-care program called the Freedom School, which is provided by the Springfield Urban League. The Freedom School is part of a national pilot program aimed at improving skills in language arts.
During the summer a 5-week school session is offered increase the students' retention of skills between school years. St. Patrick also hosts a national math and science camp called Camp Invention for one week during the summer.
